How To Get There: Pacific Blue have flights to Nadi via Brisbane from Melbourne. Air Pacific and Qantas have direct flights from Melbourne departing on certain days of the week (please ask if departing from another city).

Flight Times: Approximate flight time is 5 hours from Melbourne.

Climate: Fiji experiences a tropical climate throughout the year. Winters can average 26°C. Refreshing tropical rain can occur anytime, but December to March is their hot wet season, which can average 30°C. Overall, May to October is the best time to travel to Fiji, as this time has cooler temperatures, less rainfall and humidity and also experiences less risk of tropical cyclones.

Money: Local currency in Fiji is the Fijian dollar. 1 AUD = 1.28 FJD (as of August 2006). Banks are found in major towns, and credit cards are widely accepted. ATMs accept VISA and MasterCard, with limited Eftpos available (please check with your bank). Travellers' cheques can be accepted in larger stores, and most hotels will accept Australian dollars.

Departure Tax: A departure tax of FJ$30 is included in your airfare.

Visa: Australian passport holders do not require a visa, however proof of onward travel is required. All passport holderse should have at least six months' validity on their passport when returning back to Australia.
