How To Get There: Air New Zealand offer flight services to Rarotonga via Auckland. Pacific Blue have two flight services per week to Rarotonga via Brisbane and Auckland.
Flight Times: Approximate flight time from Melbourne is eight hours.
Climate: Pleasant tropical climate with the hottest months being from November to April. Rain is more likely to occur during the summer months. While there is no real winter, it can be cool in the evenings from May to October. The average temperature in summer is 30°C and in winter 24°C.
Currency: The New Zealand dollar is the main unit of currency. 1 AUD = 1.12 NZD (as of Janurary 2007).
Departure Tax: Cook Islands departure tax of NZ$30 per adult and NZ$15 per child under 12 years old is payable when departing. This is to be paid in New Zealand dollars.
Visa: Australian passport holders do not require a visa. Proof of onward travel is required.
